漫威首部華人超級英雄電影《尚氣與十環幫傳奇》（Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings）去年上映時票房大賣，而導演Destin Daniel Cretton將再與迪士尼合作為Disney+開拍劇集《American Born Chinese》，並由「尚氣阿姨」楊紫瓊和吳彥祖主演。
劇集改編自美籍華裔漫畫家楊謹倫的漫畫，故事講美國出生的華裔中學生捲入夢幻式神秘大戰的故事。據知創作靈感來自《西遊記》，劇中楊紫瓊再演中學生姨母，亦即是觀音。而吳彥祖則飾演孫悟空！
該劇預定本月在美國洛杉磯開鏡，上線日期等細節尚未公布。除了吳彥祖和楊紫瓊之外，劇集還有多位亞裔影星參演。其中包括黃經漢、楊雁雁以及關繼威等。身在美國的吳彥祖受訪表示：「我入行之初，同楊紫瓊都有一、兩個project差少少就傾成，大家可以合作，但因為檔期夾唔到而唔成事，最終一等就等咗二十幾年，其實之前我拍電視劇《荒原》都已經想邀請佢，所以今次能夠結片緣，我真係好開心。」他透露將於24號正式開鏡：「要拍到6月初，今次我扮孫悟空，所以要打，同埋會有特技化妝嘅，我都好期待。」
