警方在周一（16日）凌晨發聲明，嚴厲譴責昨日（15日）示威者的暴力行為，並稱昨有警員曾為驅散近距離投擲汽油彈的示威者拔槍。
警方在聲明中稱，昨日下午約5時45分，有近20名激進示威者在灣仔告士打道近馬師道交界襲擊兩名警務人員，並向他們近距離投擲汽油彈；在生命安全受到嚴重威脅的情況下，兩名警員拔槍示警，將示威者驅散。
