反修例風波持續多時，港鐵多個車站屢成示威者的襲擊目標，其中旺角站成為重災區，多次被刑毀及縱火等。有見及此，港鐵在旺角站加裝設施防範同類事故。《東網》記者今日(14日)到該站視察，只見A及B出入口加裝多道鋼閘門，每道鋼門僅得上方的通風口，相信可以防止有人從外掟氣油彈攻擊車站，至於C、D及E出口則未裝閘門。
