西班牙法院早前重判加泰羅尼亞9名獨派領袖，引發加泰連場示威衝突。香港網民今晚(24日)在中環遮打花園發起集會，聲援加泰示威者。集會人士坐滿遮打花園，大會指有3000人參與集會。他們高呼「Stand up for Catalonia, fight for freedom」等口號，又用手機發出黃、紅燈光，以示支持加泰。
集會發起人周竪峰於集會開始前重申集會目的，呼籲西班牙政府和平處理加泰示威，認為不論是香港或加泰，沒有人應因政見而入獄，並譴責所有警察暴力，特別是對和平示威者的暴力。
周指，沒有估計會有多少人出席，但被問到會否與港獨掛勾時，他反問是否一個地方有獨立運動，就值得被警察用暴力對待、人權自由被踐踏。
